The Story of Double Bee Villas

It all started when we decided as a family to build a house in our place of origin. In the place where we spent more than half the days of the month. The whole venture was quite difficult as our resources were few. Its construction time lasted two years. With a lot of effort but also an incredible appetite to succeed, with a lot of personal work from our whole family, we finally completed the house we dreamed of. Several friends and relatives suggested that we rent it to people who want to feel the peace and quiet that we also feel in our little paradise. So we decided to start renting out our villa so that other people can experience the feelings that we feel staying in this villa. The swimming pool in the villa creates an oasis of coolness in the hot summer sun.

The name of the villa came from the ancient Minoan jewel "Double Bee of Malia" found in the Necropolis of the Minoan Palace of Malia which is well known throughout the world. This particular piece of jewelry is made of gold and depicts two bees flying opposite each other and holding a honeycomb in which there is a drop of honey. The jewel was considered in the Minoans as a symbol of fertility. Also, you can see it at the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion.

In the wider area where you find the villa (Lassithi Plateau) is the place where, according to mythology, Zeus was born. Zeus was the father of gods and men. The cave where Zeus was born is "Diktaio Andron" in the settlement of Psychros and is approximately one kilometer away from the villa.

Also in the area you can find the "Kronio" cave in the settlement of Tzermiado. According to mythology, Kronos (father of Zeus) lived in this particular cave, and he ate his children for fear of losing the sovereignty of the world. Finally, when Rea gave birth to Zeus, she took him to the cave of "Dictaeus Andro" to save him from Saturn. According to archaeologists' findings, the Kronio cave was inhabited during the Neolithic and Minoan eras.
In the surrounding area you can enjoy hiking on popular trails.

In the village of Agios Konstantinos as well as in the surrounding villages of the area, there are several taverns where you can enjoy local dishes. There are also supermarkets and butchers at close distances from the villa.

At two kilometers there is a health center, a police station and a fire station.
